For many they will not read this book of Hebrews because it just seems so difficult with so many pages about priests and sacrificial systems. We are in a different timeline but also a completely different culture. However, if we don’t persevere we will miss huge important truths about Jesus Christ.
The one reason why you should not abandon your church and your faith is found in these passages that we are reading: Jesus Christ.
“Now the main point of what we are saying is this: we do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.“ Hebrews 8:1-2
The main point is we need a High Priest and we have one, Jesus Christ.
The main point is we need a perfect High Priest and we have one, Jesus Christ, who sat down, a symbol of completed work, and who is exalted as Son of God, for no other can sit at the right hand.
The main point is we need an active High Priest and we have one, Jesus Christ, who is serving in the sanctuary of heaven.
Therefore we don’t abandon and turn back, we turn to Jesus, for who will save us when we sin?
We don’t reduce the one who died, was raised, ascended, exalted and glorified to something less, to dethrone Him because other important religious experiences, ideologies or the temptations of the world want to sit alongside Him in our lives. It doesn’t sit comfortably.
We don’t rely on our spiritual experiences from the hands of men, the glory of man (and of women of course!) and what man can perform and produce. It all is a shadow of the true spiritual experience when a divine exchange happens from the tabernacle of the Lord in heaven and where we are here on earth.
The main point is Jesus.
