God still uses baskets

These next 2 verses at the end of this chapter reveal just what this upside down kingdom looks like.

“In Damascus the governor under King Aretas had the city of the Damascenes guarded in order to arrest me. But I was lowered in a basket from a window in the wall and slipped through his hands.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭32‬-‭33‬

Right now you might be feeling inadequate for the task and overwhelmed with so much to carry and do. If this is you then remember this event from Paul’s life.

In a place where he had been previously known as the persecutor of Christians and where he was dramatically saved, he was saved again.

In a place where an enforcer of the King’s wishes that Paul be captured was searching for him.

In a place where there was no way out, he was indeed contained not knowing what to do.

In that place there was a basket.

When hard-pressed by the enemy Paul was lowered down in a basket in an elaborate but maybe undignified escape. Preserved by God’s grace for purposes far higher than he could have imagined.

A basket is nearer to you than you think. Sometimes the great acts of faith are found in the moments that just feel like survival, hiding in a basket, relying totally on God’s grace.

Look for that basket. God still uses them.
