Pharaoh was the most powerful man in the world, and this story is for anyone who is in a season of waiting.
“So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.” (Genesis 41 v 38-40)
Pharaoh was the most powerful ruler on earth at the time. Incredibly wise people surrounded him, yet no one compared to Joseph.
In case you needed a recap: Joseph came from a pit, was sold as a slave, falsely accused, forgotten in prison and then suddenly he became second to the throne because he had been able to do what no other could do. Pharaoh realises that only Joseph’s God had made it known.
Suppose you are waiting for God today. Maybe you are not in the best place while you are waiting. It may feel permanent. But be encouraged by this story. This ‘prison’ is not your permanent address. God is still moving, and a new chapter can begin again for you.
The same God who promoted Joseph from a pit to a palace is still at work in your story. Your waiting season is not wasted. Your hidden years are not forgotten. Keep being faithful where you are, because when God moves, He moves suddenly.
